Set up once, then try it together

Use the storyteller's own phone, tablet or computer. Sit beside them so they can try each step.

1. Connect their account

In your family account, create their private setup link. Open it on their device and tap "Open my stories". That is all: no password, no code, and the device keeps them logged in.

Explain that the person managing the book can read the stories and hear the recordings. The storyteller chooses what to tell.

2. Make it comfortable

Let them choose Make text larger at the top of the page if it helps. Turn the device volume up enough to hear the story read aloud.

Choose a quiet place. They can pause, skip a question or finish whenever they want.

3. Keep one short memory

Let them press Start talking. Allow the microphone when the browser asks. Tell a short memory, then press I’m finished and wait for the written story.

Read or listen together. Try changing one word. Save for later keeps a draft; Add to my book puts the reviewed version in the book.

Open the recording pageHelp if the microphone does not work

4. Practise coming back

Keep a shortcut using the steps below. Close the page, then ask them to open My stories on their own. Their saved story should be there.

Try again another day. If a step is confusing, write down where they got stuck so we can improve it.

Make it easy to come back

Use this same device and browser next time. Your saved sign-in can take you straight to your stories.

Open my stories

On an Android phone or tablet
